The trade issue of the book was issued in a jacket. Whether it ever had one for this library issue is questionable. This copy did not have a dust jacket when examined. The original blue and white pictorial end pages were bound into the book inside of the library binding end pages. He is known for illustrations of children's picture books, especially collaborations with writer Margaret Wise Brown including Goodnight Moon (1947) and The Runaway Bunny (1942). He illustrated Margaret Wise Browns Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny, many of his wife Edith Hurds books, and The World Is Round, which is the only childrens book written by Gertrude. It has a small binders stamp "PICTURE COVER BINDINGS". Clement Gazzam Hurd 1 (Janu February 5, 1988) was an American artist. It appears that the copy was originally bound in this binding. The copy examined was bound in a library binding, but was not an ex library copy. The reverse of the last page of text has two lines that state "Hand-set in Weiss Bold by Edna Rushmore at- the Golden Hind Press in Madison, New Jersey.". The words "First Edition" and the letters "M-Q" are in a slightly larger type font. The copyright page has ten lines of text, followed by a blank line, followed by "3-2", followed by a blank line, followed by "FIRST EDITION", followed by the letters "M-Q" (M-Q is the Harper code for December-1941). The First Edition of "The Runaway Bunny" has Harper & Brothers Publishers, New York and London on the title page.
